How To Pack Light

1. Roll Your Clothes

Rolling lets you pack your clothes a little more tightly into your case which will optimise your luggage space. The main benefit though, it gets rid of the tight crease along a fold line. But beware that you need to start with flat uncreased clothes before rolling, or you are just going to roll those creases even deeper in.

For the super organised, consider rolling each full day’s clothes and underwear into one roll so you can quickly grab and wear in the morning.

More about how to pack small than pack light, so if your carrier weights hand luggage as is common with US and Asian carriers, then keep track of the weight as well.

2. Wear your boots

Pack your smallest items and wear your biggest ones as every traveller knows.

Do take your boots off on the plane though to give your feet chance to breathe. And do wear clean socks if you are doing that, to give your fellow passengers chance to breathe!

3. Lay Out Tomorrow’s Clothes

Easy to pack all your clean clothes and then have to unpack at 4am in a rush. So lay your clothes out for the airport and you will but time to panic about something else instead.

And bonus tip: if you are charging some devices overnight then put them on top of the clothes you just laid out so you don’t forget your phone.
